Having worked in the recruitment industry since 1996 I can say that it is a challenging and rewarding career choice. Would you like to work in the recruitment industry? Being a recruitment consultant, like any job there are:
- different success levels for each person working in the industry (some people are high flyers, some are consistently average, some do the job for a few years then decide it is not for them);
- different recruitment company sizes (large corporates, small/ medium-sized enterprises and the start-ups);
- different recruitment company styles (low margin/ high volume, high margin/ low volume, retained search and headhunting);
- many positives and a few negatives, but this depends on your viewpoint, work ethic and determination.
I love recruitment and I believe you have to love recruitment to truly succeed at this job. When you start your career as a trainee recruitment consultant you are helping people find new careers, this changes there lives; you are helping employers find quality staff to join their business, which adds value to them; when recruitment is done well it is very satisfying all parties involved and makes you feel good, that you have done a good job. Now that I am a company director I get great satisfaction in hearing from employers that we are their number one recruitment supplier, their supplier of choice. Training and developing our team is of paramount importance, which you can see from our success stories and the fact we have recently promoted Corinne Szklarek (who has worked for us since 2004) to further improve and manage the training and development of our team.
