Project Resource Australia
After 10 years of very successful trading and growth within the UK we are now in the process of planning to expand overseas, to Australia.
Since we specialise in the supply of white-collar professionals with specific construction and engineering skills and focus on a quality led recruitment process, we feel that there is a good opportunity for us to develop relationships with the top foreign and domestic employers and job seekers in the Australian market.
I am very keen to hear from you or any of your friends, colleagues or company if you are involved in any work in Australia.

To this end we have produced an employer survey that I would be very grateful if you could complete. The survey will help us to improve and tailor our service to you, not to mention help us to highlight future potential candidates that may want to work for you, and it only takes 5 minutes to complete. Further to my last post on Australia titled: “Do you want to work in Australia?“, I am delighted to report back that interest has been high.
Thank you very much if you read my email (sent to our registered job seekers) and filled out the job seeker survey. If you didn’t get a chance yet, then feel free to click on the link here, as the survey is open until Friday 11th May.

If you have completed the survey then I wanted to let you know that we have had a fantastic response of over 1500 survey completions (so far!) and will be working through the responses over the coming weeks and months.
If you feel that your situation is more urgent and you want us to contact you sooner than I wanted to suggest that we speak in confidence, so perhaps you could email me directly.
If you are in no hurry then don’t worry, we will be in touch in due course. Read the rest of this entry »

As part of the Project Resource growth plan we are looking to continue opening new offices, potentially in the UK, but certainly we will set up offices around the world.

We are researching employer demand and job seeker supply for a select few countries, of which Australia is one. As I hope you are aware, the professions that we are most interested in hearing from are: Read the rest of this entry »

Given I come into contact with all types of people on a daily basis; I am most intrigued by those with innovative and good ideas. These people I think of as Entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs. I suppose I see a little of me in those people and I like creativity and people that challenge and want to innovate. People like us always have great ideas (ok, some great, some good and a few bad); we just don’t always know how to realise them. It may be knowhow, it may be mentorship, it may be financial.
I came across this great offer this week by Orange (yes, those mobile phone people), where they are offering a business/ person that has a great business idea the chance of help and support, which could be seen as the chance of a lifetime.
Orange’s Different Business Competition
Putting together your pitch, Dragon’s den style, consider:
- a business or project that is different;
- a different approach to running the business;
- a robust business model;
- a clear strategy for the project/business;
- evidence of a market for the project/business;
- a pitch that demonstrates you have the necessary skills to succeed;
- the business plan makes financial sense, will be profitable and has been well thought through; and
- an idea that is worth funding and could be the UK’s next different business.
The Prize
All worth up to £200,000!
For more information about Orange’s Different Business Competition visit www.winyourbusiness.com. Make your own luck and go for it!
If you do not win and you have a great business idea, then we are always willing to have a chat with you, and you never know we may be willing to invest in you and your idea. Feel free to call me or Bill Wynn on 0118-952-2240 to dsicuss your idea or email me.
UK Unemployment rises in Feb, yet Recuitment Consultant demand continues.

I am acutely aware of the state of the UK economy and the challenges it faces post-recession. I read today on Bloomberg news that unemployment in the UK jumped more than forecast in February 2012.
Unemployment remains at the highest rate in 16 years, underscoring the weakness of the labour market even as the economy shows signs of recovering.
However, surveys of manufacturing and services this month indicated that the UK economy returned to growth in the first quarter after a 0.2 percent contraction in the last three months of 2011, financial turmoil in the euro area has dented confidence in the UK.
Regardless of this information we are very upbeat about now and the future for Project Resource. In the last year we have opened two new offices and are on a drive now to add good people to those teams in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Reading. Read the rest of this entry »
Great careers in recruitment for technical professionals.

We specialise in the supply of white-collar workers to the construction, civil engineering and infrastructure industries in the UK and worldwide. Since 2008 these industries, like many others have been hit for six by the UK and global slowdown. Tens of thousands of people have been made redundant or lost their jobs, many will leave the industry for good. The same can be said for the recruitment industry, many recruitment consultants were made redundant or lost their jobs, many will choose to leave the industry altogether also.

Project Resource has an open mind to recruiting the very best talent for our business, and our view is very much, “as some doors close, others open”. We are interested in hearing from commercially minded construction, civil engineering or infrastructure professionals, that would like to talk to us about working with us as recruitment consultants.
Working for Project Resource, you will be working in a meritocracy, where you are rewarded by how well you perform…you are in control of your own destiny and success. It is possible you may not earn as much basic salary as you do currently or have in the past, but you will be more than compensated by the excellent commission structure scheme, career prospects and fun that we have.
So whether you are quantity surveyor, building surveyor, civil engineer, Planner/ project controller or manager, if you feel it is time to make a career move, and working and communicating with people everyday is something you like, then make sure you speak with us about the possibility of working in recruitment with Project Resource.
We have job vacancies for our Reading, Solihull and Manchester offices, and it is a really exciting time to be joining us.
If you would like to discuss job prospects working in the Project Resource team then call our internal recruitment team, asking for Karen on 01628-477744, or alternatively email a copy of your CV and we will call you.
How much should a white elephant cost?

Well, it’s over. The world can start turning again as we all focus our attention away from South Africa and their fantastic hosting of the world cup football tournament.
As ever there were highs and lows, but I think we can all agree on one thing; South Africa delivered a great football event and managed it well. What will the premiership sound like without the vuvuzela? (I have been brainwashed to expect the signature drone every time a football match is on!)
South Africa invested over £1.2bn in the infrastructure for the World Cup, including the building of 5 new stadiums and the redevelopment of 5 others just for the event. The biggest loser? probably Polokwane, a small province of 500,00 people 4 hours north of Johannesburg.

Polokwane is now the owner of a 40,000 seat stadium, which for the last 2 weeks has stood completely dormant, bar a few security staff and some construction workers. The stadium cost £120 million and you can’t help wondering if this is money well spent, for a town that does not even have a football or rugby team! An application has already been lodged with the government to pay the 17 million rand, just to maintain the stadium, with no clear use or tenant in sight.
Most will argue however, as South Africa grapples with the practical legacy cost of hosting such a large event, that the money has been well spent. Dreams are priceless and no one can doubt the positive galvanizing effect on the South African people. Time will tell.
As the Olympics in London 2012 looms, I can’t help but consider the legacy that awaits us and wonder whether all of our investment will be worth it. Current cost estimates put the games at around £14 billion, although some bloggers are banding around figures of up to £20billion as the true cost.

When compared to what you could do with that sort of money in terms of direct funding into community sports schemes, training and facilities, you do have to ask don’t you?
Adrian Warner from the BBC is more than aware of the risks facing the legacy of the games.
It’s not all doom and gloom of course, the upcoming 2012 Olympics is unique in its geographic positioning and population density, and with a UK population expected to increase by up to 15 million people in the next 40 years you can only conclude that we won’t have the same problems for legacy usage that Polokwane may do.
Recruitment Sales Manager wanted for our North West office

Exciting times, we are working hard to open our third recruitment office in 2011, which will be located in the North West of England, most likely around the Greater Manchester area.
It’s been a busy and successful 8 years of growth and development at Project Resource. As a result of our successes we want to expand further, in line with our business plan, and continue to improve the synergies with our customers.

We have traded in the North of England since day 1, without a local presence. We have always sought to establish a local presence from which to base the professional recruitment services that we provide and be available at short notice to visit or receive customers.
The last 2 years have been particularly difficult in the recruitment sector, with Construction being one of the hardest hit. However, as is the case with most of the hardest hit industries, they eventually bounce back stronger, the upward trend starts and the results that come with it. We are very upbeat about our prospects for the future and this is a very exciting time to join the company and become one of our success stories.
We have always worked very hard to ensure we have a great company that employees and customers remember for the right reasons. Our structured 5 business plan (2011-2016) involves substantial growth of all of our regional offices. There has never been a better time for us to invest in our bright future and the appointment of our North West Recruitment Sales Manager is a key hire.
We focus on exceptional customer relationships, and as a commitment to getting the very best results for everyone that we deal with, we want to find and develop the best talent to represent Project Resource and all that we do.
Could this job be the job for you, or someone you know?
We will be looking in 2011 to add to the North West Team with other important hires, such as Recruitment Consultant and Trainee Recruitment Consultant. All our team are exceptional people and all hold the company values we hold integral to our professionalism and what makes us stand out above our competitors.
The North West office is a great opportunity for an experienced Recruitment Sales Manager that wants to have full profit and loss responsibility, or an experienced Team Leader that wants to spread their wings longer-term into a Manager role.
If you want to know more about our Recruitment Sales Manager job vacancy for our new North West office, or working for Project Resource, then contact our internal recruiter Karen Ingram at K.ingram@project-resource.co.uk who would love to speak with you about the job specification and your career.
Why work exclusively with a recruitment company?

Why work exclusively with a recruitment company?
I think it’s a sad indictment on the recruitment industry, that so many employers and job seekers “spread their bets” by using multiple recruitment companies. Is this lack of faith in using one supplier?
The strategy of using a list of suppliers certainly has its merits for the large multinationals, where the sheer range of skills needed require a multiple agency approach, but what about the SME market place?
Most recruitment consultants work extremely hard to get results for their customers, and to work on their behalf. We have always sought to do this exclusively with our customers at Project Resource. The reasons are simple; by us focussing on a particular employer or job seeker, we can represent them better, and their needs. We secure more buy in from job seekers who know we will not waste their time.
We take a consultative approach, and because the job seeker is not liaising with a multitude of recruitment agencies their job applications will not be duplicated, and they remain in control. This opens me up to job seekers who are strategically looking, as opposed to generally looking or window shopping. These true job seekers want to work in a discreet way, in the most professional way. We can also work in a calm and methodical way to get the best talent, best job opportunities and match accordingly.
Working exclusively (or in partnership for want of a better word) with employers and job seekers makes the recruitment process as lean as it can be, which ensures less stress and time wasted for all parties involved. It also saves the employer and job seeker time by having one point of contact who is working with them rather than being bombarded by a multitude of people.
Contact Derek Scott by email or on 0118-952-2240 to find out more about working exclusively with Project Resource or click these links to read some of our employer testimonials or job seeker testimonials, and see why your peers chose Project Resource as their recruitment partner.
