As a recruiter that specialises in design management contract jobs I am often asked for my opinion on contract work and whether it is worth it.
Generally there are two types of job seekers that I work with: experienced contract workers who complete a set assignment then move on to the next contract and job seekers who are used to being in permanent employment and are perhaps trying contract work for the first time.
Experienced contract workers accept that they will always be looking for the next contract but enjoy the freedom they have, after all, they are their own boss and they reap the pay rewards in the meantime. Read the rest of this entry »

For those who are unaware, after 3 successful years delivering permanent commercial professionals to West Midlands based companies, I have recently moved internally within Project Resource to help continue developing our Design Management delivery capabilities.
Traditionally, our major recruitment successes within the Midlands region have been within our core areas – Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying and Planning and Project Controls but in the last year we have also added Design Management to our offering. Since October 2011 I have proactively been working to establish a freelance Design Manager market for the Midlands region, following on from our successes in establishing a permanent market.
