With youth unemployment so high, I am still astounded that these young people are not more proactive in getting themselves seen. I’m not old and not a million miles away from them in my mindset.
Here I thought I would highlight a simple idea that if you are looking for a new job, you can try, to make a difference and get yourself noticed, STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD. It’s a noisy world now with the internet (hundreds of job boards, social media, company careers pages), traditional media (newspapers, TV) and so on. You need to be pro-active, creative, different and most of all persistent to shine bright to potential employers.

High unemployment! No jobs! What a load of rubbish!
We are looking for people to join our Birmingham office, which we opened in March 2008 and which is going from strength to strength.
It’s a great time to join our company, and specifically the London office. It is so exciting to be working for a growing company, knowing that you are part of its success, your input is valued and makes a real difference.
In my role as internal recruiter for Project Resource I really do see the impact of the job I perform for the team. My role is to source and first interview every person that we hire to join the team. I have interviewed thousands of people by phone, review hundreds of CV’s each week, and see the people that we hire flourish in our entrepreneurial work environment.

From all our office Managers, to Sales Director, to our more recent Trainee Recruitment Consultant hires, all have been sourced then recommended by me for interview.
We are always interested in talking to experienced recruiters who really want their careers to take off in a big way. We also want to hear from ambitious, focused and hard-working non-experienced people. Read the rest of this entry »

I could write hundreds of questions here, but here are a few that we ask interviewees that are interviewing to join us. We also prepare the candidates that we are representing to our clients to be ready for these types of questions and make sure they have prepared a well thought out answer.
Tell me all you know about our company?
Why do you want to work for our company?
What is your greatest success to date?
Where would you like your career to be in 2 years and 5 years time?
What three words would your current manager/ best friend/ partner (delete as appropriate) use to best describe you?
So, now that you have read the questions, do you have well thought our answers? If you have any interview related questions that you would like answered, ask away and I will help you as best I can.
How did you come to work in the recruitment industry?

I came across this survey today and thought it of interest. If you work in the recruitment industry, it’s likely you “fell” into recruitment by chance, according to a popular poll on LinkedIn that was started by Claire Barrow. Two out of three respondents fell into recruitment and only 13% choose it as a career (see below).

Does this figure surprise you? Well it’s not that surprising to me because I speak to Recruiters every day and this is of about our profession. Most recruiters did not start on their career journey saying “I want to be a recruitment consultant”. It’s great job, of that there is no doubt, and I think that it will, in time, become as well known as more traditional careers. Read the rest of this entry »

Well its going to be another exciting week for me, regardless of the doom and gloom in the news and the so-called stumbling economic recovery.
I’m working 24/ 7 right now, it’s recruit, recruit, recruit as far as Project Resource is concerned and it is my job to find our next future leaders.
It’s a very exciting time to join our growing business, and right now we
have job openings in all four of our offices (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Reading). Having been with the business since very near the start in 2002/3, I have seen the company grow from 3 people and 1 office to become the multiple office business, with many of the junior team members progressing through the company to head up those new offices and in Andrew Szklarek’s case become a Director of the business, when prior to working with us he had no recruitment experience.
